阅读课教学设计
英语阅读教学在英语教学中占有举足轻重的位置,撰写教学设计和试讲也是近年来教招考试中出现频率较高的考查形式,能够测出考生的语言功底和表达能力。故设计好一堂阅读课是考生在面试中取得成功的*一步。本文以外研版八年级Module 2 Unit 2 My home town and my country阅读课为例进行教学设计,该教学设计以学生的现实生活为出发点和归宿点,旨在发挥学生的实际语言运用能力。
Teaching aims:
Knowledge aim:
Students can get familiar with this passage and know something about England, such as Cambridge and Cambridge University.
Ability aims:
Students can use skimming skills to get the main idea of each part and use the scanning skills to get specific information.
Students will express their opinions on their home town and be willing to communicate with others.
Emotional aims:
Students will increase their interest in discussing with others together.
Students will want to know more things about foreign countries.
Teaching key points and difficult points:
Key points:
To direct the students to sum up the main idea and gather detailed information.
To enable students to study in groups and cooperate skillfully.
Students can apply reading strategies: making prediction, skimming and scanning.
Difficult points:
To develop students’ interest in English.
To improve students’ reading abilities: get information from the article.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Lead-in
Greet students.
Ask students questions: 1.where is your home town?
2.Did you go to other cities? What are they?
3.Which city do you like best?
(Justification: the teacher can lead the topic of “My home town and my country” very naturally and it can also arouse students’ interest. And students can improve speaking abilities through this stage.)
Step 2 Pre-reading
Do a survey among students about what they already knew about England. And then do a group competition.
(Justification: students can recall their knowledge systematically, it can also attract students’ attention and lay a foundation for the following reading steps.)
Step 3 While-reading
1. Fast reading
Read the passage for the first time and answer the following questions:
(1) The places about England mentioned in this passage?
(2) Choose the title for each picture in this page (Tower Bridge and the River Thames, Cambridge University and the River Cam)
(Justification: students’ skimming skills can be trained. It’s an individual work, so the autonomous learning method can be demonstrated also.)
2. Careful reading
Read the passage carefully and fill the chart below:
(Justification: These questions can help students to understand this passage much better. This activity can also develop students’ scanning skills to grasp the detailed information.)
Step 4 Post-reading
Group discussion: The name and advantages of the city that you dream to visit for a long time.
(Justification: This debate can achieve the emotional aims to increase their interest in discussing with others together. Also, they can develop critical thinking and speaking ability.)
Step 5 Summary and homework
Summary: Invite one student to summarize what we have learned today.
Homework: Search for more information about England on the Internet and share it next class.
